Our Ancestors Are With Us

Our ancestors are very much with us, available for support, comfort, healing, protection and inspiration. Meet my great grandfather, Dr. William Augustus Batchelor (the bearded man on the left). Fifteen years ago, I was mesmerized by the energy of my paternal great-grandfather when I came across a packet of his photos and writings while sorting out my parents’ house with my siblings. I knew there was a lineage of doctors on that side of the family. My father‘s mother and father were doctors, as were both of their fathers.

William Augustus Batchelor, (1856-1920), was a respected and well-loved surgeon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon opening the newly found packet, his photo stirred my heart while his words reached out to me across a century, speaking of progressive thinking from a man ahead of his time. Something about him felt familiar. I was able to take the packet home which was then tucked away and moved coast to coast with me from Boston to Santa Barbara, California.

Fast forward to the end of 2020 when I was having an intuitive reading with a brilliant practitioner and one of my ancestors showed up. She described what he looked like and I realized she was describing details of my great-grandfather from this photo. As I listened to his messages with tears streaming down my face, the connection was re-awakened. Later that night I searched my house for the packet. Holding his handwritten stationary in my hands, more tears freely flowed as I once again read his speeches written over one hundred years ago. His words were alive to me, filled with wisdom and compassion. I will be sharing more about this incredible man in future posts. Apparently, I carry a lot of his DNA. I am honored to be in his family lineage. Our ancestors are available to us. We just need to ask, get quiet, stay open and listen deeply within.
